Territory

Varano, a hamlet of Ancona, is regarded by the pioneering winegrowers who helped draw up the Rosso Conero DOC regulations (established in 1967) as the heart of the wine-growing region overlooking Monte Conero.

The particular clay-limestone composition of the soils, the hilly terrain, the southwest exposure and the ventilation of the facing Adriatic Sea contribute to the definition of a microclimate very favorable to the cultivation of vines, particularly that of Montepulciano, which until the mid-twentieth century was called Cordisco on site.
